Our Back to School year kicked off on Monday, August 9th, 2021!
The first week was spent introducing the kids to the new books, reading introduction pages and helping them understand what is expected with each book. I literally took a whole week for this. Not just because I have 4 kids, but because it’s quite hard to go from having time off during the summer to jumping into a new schedule full-steam ahead…for anyone! And I can tell you, we were ALL blessed by this. It tamed the stress, and hyped up the restful learning environment I am shooting for.
We didn’t go from 0-100 the first day…
…but gradually read the beginning of books, and perused workbooks. They got questions answered, and we figured out what they were looking forward to, and what they were not looking so forward to. I made note of the subjects they weren’t happy to start, so I could focus on taking it slower there. When Monday came back around, they knew what to do and were ready to go! Here’s a wonderful prayer we use during the week. You can find it in the Memoria Press lesson plan books 🙂
Dearest Lord,
Teach me to be generous.
Teach me to serve you as you deserve;
To give and not to count the cost,
To fight and not to heed the wounds,
To toil and not to seek for rest,
To labor and not to ask for reward.
Save that of knowing I am doing your will.
Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
